non-duality & trauma
Often when people hear the word “trauma” they envision a dramatic event. Although this can be the case, trauma can visit us in the small moments of life as well. Trauma can even be the end result of the accumulation of stress, with its grasp on the individual directly effecting one’s resiliency by taking them out of their natural way of being. Seemingly minor incidents can become defining moments that form the seed of a lived belief system. If, for whatever reason, the emotions and sensations were too overwhelming to express at the time, this charged energy can become trapped in the body until it can find a safe environment to “re-experience” and release at a cellular level, thus finding completion. Unexpressed emotions and events, no matter how small, if left unprocessed can lead to chronic stress, organ malfunction, physical ailments and disease, as well as disruptive behavior patterns, phobias and emotional imbalances.
The term Non-duality comes from the Sanskrit word “advaita” which literally means “non-secondness” or “one without a second.” Our perceived world derives its apparent existence from a single, infinte, indivisible reality and its recognition is the cessation of suffering. Within the framework of a meeting we may inquire into this knowing as we move together through all that comes to be seen, heard, felt, expressed and released.
“Happiness is your nature. It is not wrong to desire it. What is wrong is seeking it outside when it’s inside.” - Sri Ramana Maharshi
“The individual suffers because he perceives duality. Find the One everywhere and in everything and there will be an end to pain and suffering.” - Sri Anandamayi Ma
